What Does the LECL Do?
Community Leagues are unique to the City of Edmonton. The Lewis Estates Community League is a not-for-profit organization run by volunteers that work to foster neighborhood connection through events, programming, city communication, and generally work to improve the quality of life of our community residents.
Where does the LECL get its funding from?
- The city of Edmonton’s established organizations can access annual operating grants from the city that vary in size, based on the neighbourhood population.
- We also help secure grants from other organizations for various purposes deemed priorities by the community.
- We organize casinos through AGLC (every 2 years).
- Finally, through Membership Sales, Events, and Fundraising. The voluntary membership fee paid by community members helps extend the types of events and programming the league can put on.
How much does a LECL membership cost?
A household family membership is $35, annually. The membership cycle runs from Sept 1st through August 31st.
What are the benefits of a LECL membership?
One of the biggest benefits is helping promote safe, healthy, and active living within your community, but the City of Edmonton and various minor sports associations have extended a bunch of financial incentives for being a member. Access to free community swims and discounts on City wide facilities are just the tip of the iceberg. We have an entire page where we outline the benefits of membership.
How can I purchase a LECL membership?

If I lose my card/number how can I get a new one?
With the communal membership, you can add your membership digitally to your Google Wallet or Apple Pay!
If you need further help, please contact membership@lecl.org and they can lookup your membership status, find your membership number, or help with your account.
How can I get involved with the LECL?
Beyond purchasing a membership, the easiest way to get involved is by volunteering! We are also always looking for various committee members if you want to help plan a certain area of community operations (events, programming, parks and amenity development, civics, or even facility/rink maintenance). If you would like to play more of a role in planning operations, you can attend board meetings, or even volunteer as a board member! If you aren’t sure, reach out to us (president@lecl.org) and we can put you in touch with the right people to talk to!
Do you have a community hall? Can I rent it out for a private function?
Unfortunately we do not have a community hall. The building in Potter Greens Park, is for maintenance equipment storage and board operations only.
Can I book the park for a private birthday or event?
Park facilities are available on a first come first serve basis. If you want to do something a little larger, or more formal, you need to apply for a Neighbourhood Event License directly from the City. Please note, these licenses do not grant you exclusive use of a park or public land, but will permit you to use them legally, if required.
Where can I find information about upcoming LECL events?
We try our best to keep our resources up to date (sorry if they aren’t!) but the best place to go for information on upcoming events are our EVENTS page or our Facebook page, or even subscribe to our Newsletter here.
